Chrome OS 76 adds “Send to self” feature for pushing web pages to your other devices
Chrome Story found a nifty new feature in the works for Chrome OS 76 called “send to self”. Basically, it’s a simple method to send the URL of a web page from your Chromebook to another device with the Chrome browser.
The flag to enable it, along with other supporting flags can be enabled by opening chrome://flags/ and then searching for the term “send”:
Although Chrome Story has been testing this on the Canary Channel of Chrome OS 76, I see it on one of my devices running the Dev Channel. And it works as you’d expect.
When you click in the address bar of any web page, you’ll see a small icon showing a laptop and a phone. Click it and you can then choose which of your supported devices that will receive the URL. A few seconds later, you should see the URL on that device; in my case, it’s from the Pixel 3XL.
Tapping the notification my phone opens the Chrome browser directly to the page I shared. Although both my Pixel Slate and Pixel 3XL are on the same Wi-Fi network in this example, I tested this over an LTE connection on my phone and it worked exactly the same, as you’d expect.
I don’t yet see a way to send web pages the other way, that is: from a phone to a Chromebook or other device with the Chrome browser. I think that would be handy as well, so hopefully, Google is working on such a feature.
Seems like something that should have been working a while ago. Am I correct in thinking this feature been common place on other devices?
I am still salty about losing my Linux apps on the DEV channel. Has that been fixed?
And losing my hyperthreading.
The benefits of having spent extra for 16gb spin 13 seem regrettably foolish.
Using the Android Chrome dev build you can click on the URL in the same way then use ‘share’, you should see Chrome as one of the options. Not quite as intuitive, but it’s there ?
To send from Android to desktop click in the address bar and then click the share button. Then look for send to devices in the native share dialog. See screenshot for details.

You can also send links to other devices by right clicking on a link. This seems to only work on desktop for now though. Thanks for sharing.
Hmm, I’m on Chrome 76 but send to devices from Android is not available. Suggestions?
Also on desktop Chrome, you can go to your history and in there on left hand side select “tabs from other devices” and choose any of the tabs you currently have open in Android Chrome app on your phone/tablet.
I’ve tried it and it appears to work on the Pixelbook end. It offers the choice of my Oneplus 6t but when i send i don’t get anything on the other end. I have found the works with Google to be hit and miss. Sometimes Smartlock works with my phone and then suddenly it doesn’t. Smart tethering has never worked even though it is enabled and my phone is listed as connected.
