Practical Financial Habits for Chromebook Users

Many Chromebook users report that several aspects of their lives can be managed seamlessly and effectively using their device.

If you’re one of millions of people worldwide, chances are that your finances are an aspect of your life you want to improve on at any given time. The good news is that your Chromebook can be an amazing tool for this purpose.

In this article, we will touch on a few financial habits you can implement using your Chromebook that will make your life much easier and help you reach your goals:

    Download Relevant Apps

One of the benefits of a Chromebook is that it has access to some of the most innovative apps on the planet. These include financial apps, and anyone looking to develop better money habits should definitely take advantage of them.

For starters, you can download budgeting apps and track your spending at every given point. These will let you know how much of your money is being spent on essentials, leisure, and much more. Needless to say, it is essential for anyone trying to get on top of their money.

You should also download various apps for your financial institutions, whether you deal in fiat or cryptocurrency. Dealing in fiat, you can download the official applications for your bank and manage your flow of money through them.

For cryptocurrency, you’ll want to download hot wallet applications that track your cryptocurrency stash, its market performance, and much more.

Many of these apps also allow you to buy cryptocurrency on the spot. If you want to buy Bitcoin, for example, having such a wallet means you can do it while on the go.

These apps essentially make sure that you’re not disconnected from your finances and instead, can make whatever decision you need to on the spot.

    Set Up Alerts

It’s not enough to simply have applications downloaded to your Chromebook for various financial apps. You need to set up alerts for these different applications so you can stay abreast of the situation. For example, setting up alerts on your banking app lets you know when money has been taken.

This way, if a fraudulent transaction has gone through or you want confirmation of a purchase, you’ll have it immediately.

For things like cryptocurrency, you can set up price alerts to let you know when tokens reach a particular price.  You can also set up alerts for any money being deposited or withdrawn into your wallet. That way, if you’re ever compromised, you’ll know immediately rather than after the fact.

Setting up alerts for your Chromebook can be done within your various apps, though you might have to manually allow notifications within the device.

    Use Cheap/Free Software

Managing your finances using your Chromebook does not have to break the bank. One way to keep your finances in order is to leverage all the cheap and free software available to you.

For example, rather than spending money on a paid document management platform, you can use things like Google Docs. The Google S uite of tools offers virtually everything you need for work, school, and life overall.

By looking at the official Google Play Store, you can also find free or cheaper versions of various applications, whether financial or not.

On top of this, you should always review your various subscriptions, usually through one of your financial apps, and make sure to cancel any ones that you no longer use or which don’t seem to be worth the money.

    Protect Your Details

The last thing you want is for your sensitive financial details to be compromised in the process of using your Chromebook. This is why all your details need to be protected on a day-to-day basis. Luckily, your device will have several ways to protect your passwords, whether this is by fingerprint or a general password.

Make sure to use the built-in password manager to not only auto-fill your details when needed, but make sure no one else can gain access to them.

Every few months, look through your password manager and remove any that you’re not actively using.  You should also take care when adding things such as card details to your Chromebook for automatic payments. If you share the Chromebook or otherwise have reservations, opt not to save them to the device.

    Conclusion

A Chromebook can be a valuable tool and getting your finances together, but it has to be used with intention. As we’ve noted in this article, you first need to embrace the suite of tools available via your device.

Whether it’s managing finances with a banking app or taking advantage of free tools to save money, these will go a long way. You should also make sure your details are protected while you pursue these various goals.
