    LIVES: 3
    READY!

One of the most enduring examples of nostalgia done right is the Google Pac-Man Easter Egg Game, a playable version of the arcade classic that first appeared as a Google Doodle.

While it began as a limited-time celebration, this beloved Easter Egg has since become an enduring online favorite, enjoyed by players of all ages.

    How To Play Google Pac-Man?

    • Arrow Keys – Use ↑ ↓ ← → to move Pac-Man
    • WASD Keys – Alternative controls (W=up, S=down, A=left, D=right)

Navigate Pac‑Man through the maze, eating all the pellets to complete the level.

Avoid the ghosts—Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde—until you grab a power pellet.

Power pellets let Pac‑Man eat ghosts for extra points temporarily.

The game continues until all lives are lost, or you decide to restart.

The Origins of the Google Pac-Man Easter Egg

On May 21, 2010, Google released the Pac-Man Easter Egg Game to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Pac-Man. For the first time, the Google homepage transformed into an interactive arcade experience.

Users could click “Insert Coin” and instantly play a faithful recreation of Pac-Man’s original maze, complete with the familiar ghosts and pellets.

This Easter Egg quickly became one of Google’s most popular Doodles, attracting millions of players worldwide who appreciated the authentic gameplay and the seamless integration into the search engine’s homepage.

Why the Game Stands Out Among Google Easter Eggs

The Google Pac-Man Doodle wasn’t just a novelty—it was a fully functional, browser-based version of one of the world’s most famous video games.

What set it apart was its attention to detail:

    • The maze layout mirrored the original arcade design.
    • The familiar sound effects and ghost behaviors were faithfully recreated.
    • Players could even play a two-player mode by clicking “Insert Coin” twice and using both sets of controls.

This combination of authenticity and accessibility turned the Pac-Man Easter Egg into a cultural moment, with offices and classrooms worldwide taking a nostalgic break to munch pellets.
