Acer debuted six new Chromebooks for the classroom at BETT this week, available in a range of prices and options starting at $279. Some are clamshells while others are 2-in-1 convertibles, but all are sturdy enough to resist spills and drops.

The Acer Chromebook Spin 13 with Core i5, 8 GB of memory and 128 GB of storage is a beast of a 2-in-1, normally priced at $899. I thought it was a great device for that price, but for some reason, Amazon is offering it for $699.
Can AMD break into the Chromebook market dominated by Intel processors? Acer must think so because it’s using an AMD chip with Radeon R4 graphics in the new Acer Chromebook 315, a 15.6-inch device that starts under $300.
The $899 Acer Chromebook Spin 13 that impressed me when I reviewed it can be had for $749 at Amazon, although the deal is likely to be a short-term opportunity. This is a powerful 2-in-1 Chromebook that can handle nearly any task for business or fun.
Acer is rounding out its Chromebook 514 line with two new configurations, adding a $349 and $399 option to the already introduced $499 model. The processors in all of these devices are bit outdated though, so shop around if you’re in the market.
Announced in August, the Acer Chromebook 514 is closer to becoming available. The product page is now live, showing a Pentium-powered model with 14-inch full HD touchscreen display priced at $499.99.

Following up on its 2-in1 Chromebook Spin 13, the non-tablet model is now appearing on Acer’s website. Expect to pay $100 less than the Spin version for the Acer Chromebook 13, which is packed with a powerful processor and a generous amount of memory.

Here in the U.S. we’re waiting for the Acer Chromebook 514 to arrive. In Germany, you can get one of two models now though: The upgraded version has a touchscreen and 8GB of memory; double the base model.
With newer, more powerful processors, extra screen real estate and a lower price point than the Pixelbook, Acer’s Chromebook Spin 13 is ideal for power users or enterprise customers, minus a few small nits.
