The HP Chromebook 11a was quietly announced earlier this month. With a starting price of $259 and the same ARM processor in the proven Lenovo Duet Chromebook, it’s an insta-buy, right? Not so fast.

HP has refreshed its 14-inch Chromebook X360 convertible with a range of configurations from a Pentium Gold to Core i5. It’s the most premium consumer Chromebook the company says it has ever made. That’s why it starts at $499 and goes up from there.
The HP Chromebook 11a uses an older Celeron and has some chunky bezels around the 11.6-inch display, but a basic Chrome OS browsing machine for $219 is mind-boggling. And it’s already discounted by $50 at Best Buy.
HP has noted business workers increased reliance on cloud-based apps and has three new Chromebooks for enterprise workers, including one built to Project Athena specs with optional integrated LTE.
