Just in time for the holiday weekend, “Santa” dropped the $979 Asus Chromebook Flip CX3 on my doorstep and I have some first impressions. The price is steep but the internals may be worth it, particularly that fanless, power-sipping Intel Core i7.

A 14-inch Asus Chromebook built on the “Copano” board is coming. This Chromebook will use the Intel Tiger Lake UP4 silicon, a lower-powered mobile package.
Work on the first Intel Tiger Lake Chromebooks continues and early benchmarks indicate large performance gains with the 11th-gen CPUs. Plus we’ll see Thunderbolt and USB 4.0 support.
