Microsoft revealed last year that Xbox Cloud Gaming Beta would no longer be limited to consoles and the Windows PC app. Soon after, it turned into a web app (PWA).

Because of this, users can now play Xbox games on Chromebooks or any device with a browser. Here’s a simple way to play AAA games on a ChromeOS device.

First, go to the Xbox Cloud Gaming Beta website. To make access easier, create an icon for quick launching.

Also, a Game Pass Ultimate subscription is required to stream games instead of downloading them on a Windows PC.

The subscription costs $14.99 per month and is the highest tier. However, it provides many games without the need for downloads or updates.

It’s best to try the $1 trial before committing. After reaching the website, click the green ‘Log in’ button and enter your Outlook account details.

Non-members will see a ‘Subscribe to Ultimate’ button instead of ‘Login.’

Once subscribed, choose any game from the web app’s library. Open the game listing and click the green ‘Play’ button.

If no Bluetooth game controller is connected, an error message will appear.

Turn on pairing or discovery mode on your controller before moving forward. Check the controller maker’s website for instructions.

Each gamepad works differently, so the steps vary. For instance, a DualSense PlayStation 5 controller needs you to simultaneously press and hold the ‘Share’ button and the PlayStation button.

In a few seconds, the light bar will flash. Open the Settings app on your Chromebook, select ‘Bluetooth,’ and find the controller under ‘Unpaired devices.’

Tap it to connect to your ChromeOS laptop. That’s it.

Before you begin, know that the PWA recently improved Chromebook streaming quality and performance.

A Verified Xbox Employee on Reddit said Microsoft switched to new streaming technology. The upgrade reduces lag and creates a smoother gaming experience everywhere.

Return to the Xbox Cloud Gaming Beta website or web app, then click ‘Play’ on any game again.

The error will not appear, and the game will start as expected.

Enjoy gaming! If you used Google Stadia and need a new way to play, will you try Xbox on the web, or are you more interested in PlayStation Plus Premium?

    1. Turn on your Chromebook and open Chrome.
    2. Go to the Xbox Cloud Gaming Beta website.
    3. Tap the green button to sign in to your Xbox account.
    4. Upgrade to Game Pass Ultimate if you don’t have it.
    5. Choose a game from the list.
    6. Connect a Bluetooth controller to your Chromebook.
    7. Click ‘Play’ to start the game.
    8. Enjoy gaming on your Chromebook!

Xbox Cloud Gaming lets you play games without downloading them. Connect your Chromebook to the internet first.

Open Chrome and go to the Xbox Cloud Gaming Beta site. Create an Xbox account if you don’t have one.

Log in using the green button at the top. If your account doesn’t have a Game Pass Ultimate subscription, upgrade to access cloud gaming.

After signing in, pick any game you want to play. Next, connect a Bluetooth game controller to your Chromebook.

Most controllers function, but an Xbox controller performs best. After pairing the controller, press ‘Play’ to start the game.

You can now play Xbox games without a console. A strong internet connection improves the experience. If the game slows down, move nearer to the Wi-Fi router.

You are all set to play!
