Considering the internal hardware of the Asus Chromebook C425 is nearly the same as the $649 Pixelbook Go, this limited-time sale for the Asus at $329.99 is a ridiculously good buy.
Even at the normal price of $379.99, you’re getting a lot of bang for your buck with this Chromebook.
There is one key feature lacking, however. The 14-inch 1080p display isn’t a touchscreen. So if that’s a must-have feature, you’ll need to look elsewhere. You can fold the display 180-degrees but this isn’t what I’d call a 2-in-1, especially without that touchscreen.

At 2.8 pounds, this is also a pretty light 14-inch Chromebook.
If you’d prefer a touch display and want to stick with the Asus brand, you’ll have to step up to the Flip C434 for around $475 or so, which is a steep premium. And that model halves the memory by comparison: It only comes with 4 GB. To configure it with the same 8 GB as the C425, you’re looking at $500 or more.

Uh, even crazier at Walmart. $279 for the same version, but 4gb of RAM and 128gb of storage.

As always, great post on an excellent deal! At this price, I would choose/recommend Walmart’s version of the Asus 715. It arguably has a better and larger touchscreen as well as better build quality. For many users who are not developers or doing the kind of serious work that Kevin does, the 8th gen i3 combined with 4gb of RAM really is fine and scores roughly the same on many standard performance tests as the Pixelbook 7th gen i5 with 8gb of RAM.
The C425 from the Walmart link (for $279) is also NOT a touch screen
For people who need to spend less, that 4gb one looks good as do all of these. When comparing, one positive trade off with the C425 is lower weight, and on one version, more RAM. The negative trade off is lower build quality and less good display (in addition to, as Kevin helpfully pointed out, no touchscreen). The Acer 715 is heavier and has 4gb of RAM (though would still be my choice for reasons given in my other comment). Thanks again Kevin for this post.
I have been using 425 for a while and love it. I however have to warn the readers that lack of touch screen means many Android apps won’t even install (notably, Kindle).
