How Much Time Wasted on LOL?

    Dominic ReignsBy Dominic ReignsMay 18, 2026Updated:May 18, 2026No Comments5 Mins Read

One late-night ranked match turns into five, and suddenly the sun is up. Most League of Legends players have no idea how many total hours sit on their account. Riot doesn’t make it easy to find out. Here’s how to check how much time wasted on LOL your profile actually shows, and where the data comes from.

How to Check How Much Time Wasted on LOL

Riot Games does not display a lifetime playtime counter anywhere in the League of Legends client. Season-level stats and recent match history exist inside your profile tab, but a cumulative hour count since account creation? That’s missing entirely.

So you need third-party tools. The most widely used option in 2026 is wol.gg, commonly known as Wasted on LoL. The site pulls match records through Riot’s public API, applies average game durations across modes like Ranked, Normal, and ARAM, and returns your estimated total in minutes, hours, and days.

    Steps to Use wol.gg

Open wol.gg in any browser. Enter your Summoner Name and tagline exactly as they appear in your profile. Select your server region (NA, EUW, KR, and others are supported). Hit search. Results appear within seconds, along with a regional and global ranking.

A newer alternative, NoobHours, takes a different approach. Instead of estimating from averages, it calculates playtime from actual match durations pulled through the match-v5 API. The tradeoff is that its data only goes back to Patch 11.1 (January 2021), so it won’t capture anything older.

Other Tools for Tracking LOL Playtime

Sites like OP.GG and Mobalytics are popular for performance analysis, win rates, and per-champion stats, but neither provides a single total playtime number. If you want a rough manual estimate, you can multiply your total games played (available on OP.GG) by an average game length of around 30 minutes. It’s crude, but it works as a sanity check against what wol.gg reports. If you’re also into gaming on ChromeOS, tracking stats across devices is just as straightforward since everything runs through the browser.

    Average Game Duration by Mode
    35 min
    Summoner’s Rift (Ranked)
    30 min
    Summoner’s Rift (Normal)
    20 min
    ARAM
    35 min
    Teamfight Tactics

What These LOL Playtime Trackers Don’t Count

Every third-party calculator has blind spots. Queue times, champion select, loading screens, and client idle time are excluded. A 15-minute surrender and a 55-minute game may be averaged the same way. Older match data before 2021 is often inaccessible through Riot’s current API, so long-time players will see an undercount.

The numbers are directional. Treat them as a ballpark, not a stopwatch. If you’re someone who tracks time carefully with browser extensions, you already know that self-reported data always has gaps.

    ToolData SourceLifetime TotalPer-Champion Stats
    wol.ggRiot API (estimated durations)YesNo
NoobHoursRiot API (actual match durations)Since Jan 2021Yes
    OP.GGRiot APINoYes
    MobalyticsRiot APINoYes

How to Check Your Total RP Spending in League of Legends

Riot won’t tell you your hours, but they will tell you your money. A dedicated support page lets you log in and see exactly how much you’ve spent on Riot Points across skins, chromas, and event passes. If that page is unavailable, submitting a support ticket triggers an automated response with your spending total.

Is All That LOL Time Actually Wasted?

The reaction to seeing the number is almost always shock. Hundreds of hours. Sometimes thousands. But spending a thousand hours on a game you enjoy isn’t fundamentally different from the same amount of time on TV shows, books, or pickup basketball. If it brought fun and social connection, “wasted” might be the wrong word.

If the number feels alarming and gaming is cutting into sleep or work, let the data be useful rather than guilt-inducing. A site blocker extension can help you set boundaries during work hours. For players who want lighter sessions, cloud gaming on a Chromebook makes it easy to play casually without the pull of a full desktop setup. You can also use Chrome extensions to manage daily screen time across all sites.

How Much Time Does the Average LOL Player Spend?

According to wol.gg, the average player who has taken its test logged around 832 hours. The most extreme case on the leaderboard, a player on EUW, recorded over 39,000 hours. Four games per day at 30 minutes each adds up to about 60 hours per month, or 720 hours per year. A player who started in Season 3 could easily be past 7,000 hours at that pace.

Gaming habits are shifting toward lightweight devices and shorter sessions. Players who used to grind five-hour blocks now stream games on Chromebooks during commutes, and the specs required for cloud gaming are lower than most people expect.

    FAQs

Is wol.gg accurate for checking how much time wasted on LOL?

wol.gg gives a reasonable estimate using Riot’s API and average match durations. Expect a close approximation, not a precise count. Actual figures may be slightly higher or lower.

Does Riot Games track total League of Legends hours played?

Riot collects detailed match data internally, but no public feature in the client or on their website displays a lifetime playtime figure as of May 2026.

Do LOL playtime trackers count queue and champion select time?

No. All third-party calculators only measure in-match time. Queue waiting, champion select, and loading screens are excluded from every estimate.

Can I see my League of Legends hours broken down by champion?

wol.gg only shows total hours. For per-champion breakdowns, use NoobHours, OP.GG, or the stats tab inside the LoL client profile page.

What is the difference between wol.gg and NoobHours?

wol.gg estimates hours using average game durations. NoobHours calculates from actual match data but only covers games played after January 2021 (Patch 11.1).
